Blinds are closed. Books are out. I’ve got the uottawa library catalogue up in one tab, the uottawa e-journal up in another tab, and google scholar good to go. 650 words out of 2000 written out. Intro: done. Allyson Mitchell: wrapping up. Four more works to talk about. Conclude.
Good Lord, give me strength.

PR3 LE Slipcase. Acrylic & Digital on Paper, 10 x 14.5”, 2009. James Jean: Awesome illustrator. Obnoxiously good “sketchbook” (I don’t believe it to actually be a sketchbook but more of a book of studies that he seriously stylizes). I think this summer I’m going to try and create art with a feel of illustration behind it. Clean lines and just make pretty things....
A Shifting Sequence
The title of my series is A Shifting Sequence. The following is my Artist Statement that is both on the wall of my space and in the catalogue:
Throughout the paintings within my body of work I attempt to establish a relationship between the figure and the figure’s surroundings. One approach to the relationship that I have explored is that of a psychological disruption of the...

Post-Grad Show Post
Hello!
So the grad show went AMAZINGLY! We had such a fantastic turnout. Everyone I wanted to be there ended up coming. I got a fabulous bouquet of flowers from my friend Travis and my former art instructors. I got uplifting responses from people viewing my works and from professors who had a few nice things to say.The highlight of my night was … Winning runner-up for the best body of work...

Okay guys. Here’s what I did today:
8AM: Woke up, got ready 9:30AM: Went to Home Depot to get D-Rings 10:00AM: Arrived to Laurier and brought my super heavy pedestals for my sketchbooks and comment book up in the 3rd floor 11:00AM: Hung up my paintings with the help of the AMAZING Masters student Andrew Smith. (Reminder: Give him a thank-you note… He’s actually the most amazing...

Final Touches
I wasn’t going to put 4 in the grad-show but I’ve decided that 4 is a good number.
Oh yeah, after all this secrecy, my paintings are actually just black. How contemporary.
… But the reflections are not. Magic?
PS: LOOK HOW CLEAN THE FLOOR IS!!

Hit Me
Hello…
So a thought came into my head today. I am painting my last painting within my Fine Arts training. In T-minus 2 days I am having my art show. I remember when I was in first year and I went to my first grad show and it inspired me beyond belief. Ever since then I had been thinking of my own grad show and now it’s here. Can you believe after 4 years it’s here? 30 people...

I saw this at the 2011 Canadian Biennial exhibition at the National art Gallery entitled It Is What It Is: Recent Acquisitions of New Canadian Art. The new acquisitions were amazing. So many different contemporary artists and so many amazing different mediums. Unfortunately I believe the exhibit is down at this point. It had been up for a good while. Luckily I had the opportunity...

Grad Show Space 2011
After a few solid hours of plastering and painting. I’m covered and I think my lungs are full of plaster.
Oh, and you’re welcome, Fine Arts program, for painting your walls for you. I just realized that graduating students save them both time and money when it comes to repairing the walls for the next year. Hahaha.
And I told you my laptop was a palette....
Well well well
This tumblr has transformed into a journal it seems. Mostly because I haven’t been creating anything new that isn’t going to be part of the grad show. So my blog would be a little sparse just putting photos up of places I’ve been.
Speaking of places I’ve been… I’ve gotten into thinking of where I want to go next. I think if I were to go back to Europe,...

Note to Self
Do not ever pull up pics of your paintings while studying.
You WILL spend at least 45min staring at it trying to figure out how to resolve it. You WILL NOT study. And you WILL look at the time and wonder how it became 2:23AM.
Krisha, close the window now.

Grad Show Countdown/Freakout
UGHHHHH. I have issues. Major issues. Okay well I was told we had to have all our stuff out of the studio so they could clean the building. After this, I had planned on coming back and painting the NEXT day because I was under the impression I couldn’t come back and paint at all tonight. Now I’m hearing that all this shit is going down and I don’t know when I can get around to...
Sigh
It’s 4:16am and I cannot sleep at all. I know I’m tired but I can’t shut my little head off and I know it’ll kick me in the ass tomorrow. I just have soooo much to think about right now. I work at 10 in the AM but now I’m thinking I’ll go to the studio a bit before so I can pack up some paint for the upcoming building clean-up. Might as well. So should I sleep...

Goodbye studio. You were fun. I can’t believe that the year is over. I don’t want to leave Fine Arts, I love my program so much.
Note: None of these paintings are in my grad show. Muahaha.
Wah-wah-wee-wah
Just got back from the studio. I think I’m 3 hours of SOLID painting away from finishing my 8’ x 3.5’ painting.. then probably 1-2 hours away from finishing my 5.5’ x 6’ painting. THEN VOILA! I bought new shoes and a new dress for the event. Keepin’ it classy yo. It’s been so rainy here lately that I love it.. I love sleeping to the sound of rain and the...

John Dewey’s Art As Experience
I took this book out from the library back in september (don’t worry i’ve since then renewed) hoping to gain some sort of inspiration to move forward with my paintings. This book really helped me a lot and changed my painting approach. He emphasizes expression and experience in art and what it means to embody those two things. Dewey was an...
